We continue strengthening our local referral pathway by improving how we identify Ontario Works clients who are appropriate and ready for Employment Services.
Dedicated data‑cleanup work happened in Q1 to identify and defer Ontario Works participants who are not currently employment‑ready, allowing staff to focus efforts on those closer to labour‑market participation.
There was much collaboration in Q1with Employment Services leadership on developing improved tracking tools, including a new Case Management dashboard for Ontario Works staff and a dedicated SharePoint project site managed by Employment Services that will be accessible to both Ontario Works and Employment Ontario staff. These tools will provide better visibility into referrals, client barriers, and provider capacity, supporting a more transparent, coordinated, and effective referral process
Improved tracking tools will be rolled out to staff and work will continue on enhancing client communications on participation requirements. The Ministry will also be rolling out technology enhancements in SAMS to support the Early Connections to Employment Services initiative and there will be staff training to support more consistent identification and follow‑up for referrals to employment services.
