1.2.1 Communicate and collaborate on life stabilization and upstream initiatives that support community safety and well-being.
Community Safety and Well-Being Planning helps organizations improve the things that keep us healthy, happy, and safe. Together, we use research to create solutions focused on education, health care, food, housing, income, crime, and belonging. It is important that we create a welcoming community where problems are solved before they happen and where different professionals and community members come together to help people now and in the future
Q2 focused on maintaining momentum by finalizing key planning activities, strengthening performance measurement frameworks and advancing collaborative actions to address community priorities. Efforts included the delivery of specialized training for STAR and CSWBP members, distribution and education of key resources and the development of human trafficking prevention material, policies and education to a broad range of community members and partners. A key milestone was the successful delivery of Children’s Health Day, which saw increased year-over-year attendance from community members and partners, including representatives from first responders, health care, social services, and Indigenous organizations. Additional actions included community engagement and education promoting safe driving practices, with a focus on alcohol- and cannabis-related impairment awareness, as well as ongoing outreach and education to support community well-being.
