1.3.3 Develop a County-wide framework to achieve age-friendly communities.
In the fourth quarter, Bruce County advanced key steps toward developing a comprehensive Age Friendly Communities framework. Work began on preparing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to engage a consultant in early 2026, who will support the creation of a formal framework aligned with the World Health Organization’s age-friendly principles. Additionally, the Age Friendly Committee reviewed and discussed the completed needs assessment, providing valuable input on priorities and considerations that will inform the next phase of planning. These actions position the County to move from assessment to implementation, ensuring a structured and collaborative approach to becoming a recognized Age Friendly Community.
Work in Q2 will focus on continued engagement with County departments, local municipalities, and community partners to confirm priorities and identify opportunities for alignment with existing initiatives. A review of available resources, programs, and community assets will be completed to inform plan development. Ongoing collaboration with the Age Friendly Committee will help guide priorities, validate findings, and shape recommendations. Initial drafting of the Age Friendly Community Plan will also begin, including key themes, strategic actions, and implementation considerations.
