4.3.2 Increase the number of businesses participating in the Spruce the Bruce program.
In Q2, the Spruce the Bruce program experienced strong uptake, with all available funding fully allocated. Staff collaborated with several municipalities to expand the program’s reach by supporting locally funded streams, allowing more businesses to participate beyond the County’s core funding. These partnerships helped reinforce the value of the program and demonstrated a shared commitment to downtown revitalization. The high level of engagement also highlighted opportunities to refine the process and improve accessibility for future participants.
In Q1 County Spruce the Bruce funds were exhausted early with 39 businesses, BIAs, and Municipalities making up the successful applications.
The STB program will continue marketing and promotions across local municipalities to encourage all businesses to apply early to secure an opportunity to be considered for funding.
