Complete 7.2.1 Conduct a comprehensive assessment of critical habitats, green spaces and other environmental features that support biodiversity, ecosystem services and recreational opportunities.

Bruce County Forest Management Plans got underway in early Q4 2025 and will conclude in Q4 2026.  The FMP will serve as the County’s guiding framework for sustainable forest stewardship over the next 20 years, ensuring forest health and ecological resilience remain the top priority while supporting social, cultural, and economic values

 

Natural Heritage Mapping-Countywide mapping was completed to initiate engagement on the draft Official Plan in Q3 2024- 50% completed. (On-track)

Forest Management Plan development process-Q1 through Q3.

Update forest data to stay FSC compliant, create sustainable management recommendations, protect key natural features, respond to emerging threats, consider climate and public use, set up monitoring with five-year check-ins, align with County plans, and support open consultation with partners and communities.

Bring draft FMP to County Council in Q4.
